TV glitches and simple fixes

Telly trouble isn’t funny, most of the time it occurs when you are just getting snuggly on the sofa and about to watch your favourite programme. We’ve all been there so we decided to write a brief troubleshooting guide to help you in times of crisis, hope you find the following information useful.
  • No power: Is the TV switched on? We’re not being funny here but if you normally use standby on the remote control and somebody has switched the television off, it’s no wonder you can’t get it to work! Check to see the power is on and the television hasn’t been switched off or unplugged at the mains.
  • Channels not changing: Is the remote working? Try manually changing the channels on the television, if it works, you know the remote is at fault. Try changing the batteries for new ones. If that doesn’t work the remote might need retuning to the television or it simply might have stopped working and you need a replacement, if so, give us a call.
  • Volume doesn’t respond: Are the batteries okay in the remote? Again, try raising or lowering the volume levels manually on the television. If that works, change the batteries in the remote and try again.
  • No devices: Have you selected the right input mode? Link DVD players, sky boxes or BlueRay players to your television and you might have to scroll through the ‘device menu’ to select the input source. Once you find the list of ports simply choose the device you want to use.
  • Lack of signals: Is the aerial up to scratch? If you have a Freeview television and there’s a loss of signal or you have channels missing, try retuning, if that doesn’t work get the aerial checked, you might need an upgrade.
  • No HD channels: Are you using a HDMI cable? Is the televisions set to the right ratio and is it HD compatible along with the other devices? Tick all these items off your list and you should be able to enjoy all your favourite programmes in 1080p HD.
